John Maris
Dr. John Maris is Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots with over 35 years of flight test experience and 6,700 flight hours in more than 85 aircraft types. Dr. Maris Specializes in Control and Displays Human Factors, and he led the concept design of the Robotics Workstations that control the Canadarm2 on the International Space Station. His HF contributions and innovations have been recognized by numerous aerospace awards, including the Society of Flight Test Engineers (SFTE) Kelly Johnson award “for outstanding achievement in the field of Flight Test Engineering,” an Aviation Week Laureate, and induction into the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame in 2018. Dr. Maris has performed as Principal Flight Test Investigator and test pilot for several NASA programs, and he is currently the Chief Test Pilot for CAE’s Piper Archer electric trainer and Pratt and Whitney’s Hybrid Electric Propulsion (HEP) technology demonstration program.
